Getting Started

STEP 01

The first step using the large format scanner making sure both the monitor and scanner are turned on. For the monitor there is a small button on the front. The scanner has a front side closest to the monitor. Pressing it should light up the buttons on the scanner.

STEP 02

If the machine has properly start up, the next step it to plug your type-A USB into the port located on the front bottom right of the monitor.

Scanning a document to a file

STEP 03

Place the document
with the intended top edge forward in the scanner insertion slot. (The pages get taken in from the centre of the scanning bed, feed your pages in at the middle of the scanner)

MAKE SURE YOUR IMAGE IS FACING UPWARDS. Otherwise you get a bunch of lovely blank scans.

STEP 04

Select the Scan tab.
Here you can set various characteristics of the scan. These are described in the following steps.

Scan Settings

STEP 05

Select Colour or B&W scanning

STEP 06

Select the type of original template that best describes your
original.

Scan Lightness/Resolution

STEP 07

Set Lightness. The default Lightness value is set to zero which works well with most documents. You can change this value to make the copy lighter (positive value) or darker (negative value) and compensate for dull or faded originals.

STEP 08

Set Scan Resolution. This is where you determine image quality. You can set a custom dpi value, auto (program determined based on the type of original), descreen (scanner’s optical resolution) or turbo mode.

Scaling Scan + Setting File Destination

STEP 09

Use the Size and Resize options to determine the dimensions of your scanned image. You can use Size: “Auto” and Resize: None to keep the original’s size. 

STEP 10

Set a destination folder as your FILE DESTINATION.

Filename

STEP 11

Set the filename. The filename can be composed of entered text and one or more automatic naming elements. A default filename is set by the program. To change the default name, press the File Name button and enter a new name.

STEP 12

To modify the output file format, press File Format. Various options are available for each format.

Scanning the file

STEP 13

To modify the Folder group, press the File destination button.

In the Change Folder dialog you can:
– use the arrows to select the folder on your disk.
– use the folder up button (marked “..”) to move up a level.
– create a new folder in the current folder with the New Folder
button.
– press a folder name to move your search to that folder’s level.

STEP 14

Press the Scan to file button to start the scan-to-file process and save the image
